DID YOU KNOW?
  • Almost 2 million people are sick and disabled and have been unable to work for over a year
  • Over 2,900 people start claiming sickness benefits every day
  • A working adult is 10 times more likely to be unable to work through ill health than to die before retirement

DURING THEIR LIFETIME ...

  • 1 in 5 people has a chance of being off work for at least 3 months
  • There is a 1 in 6 chance of an adult being incapacitated for longer than 6 months
.. but still many people are unprepared for the serious financial consequences which could follow if they are unable to work because of a serious illness or accident.

PERMANENT HEALTH INSURANCE

This can be used to cover your income up until retirement.

Normally, the maximum benefit allowable is 50% of income.

You have a choice of deferred periods - 4, 8, 13, 26 and 52 weeks. The longer the period, the lesser the premium. However, if you are employed you are governed by the sick pay you will receive from your employer.

Example -
Employer pays 6 months full pay followed by 6 months half pay. 52 weeks deferred period required.
Employer pays 3 months half pay then you can elect for either 26 weeks or 52 weeks.
Employer pays no sick pay then you have the full choice of deferred periods.
The self-employed have the same options.
